THE HOUSE

Fourteen rooms and one very long view.

The Ploner family has farmed this ridge since 1962. In 2018 Marta and Jonas Ploner turned the old Larchhof barn into a small hotel, keeping the beams, the hay-loft windows and the habit of leaving the door open for neighbours.

Everything you touch was made within forty kilometres: larch-wood floors, wool from Sarntal, bread from the village oven. There is no spa menu and no schedule. There is a sauna in the trees, and you are expected to use it.

WHILE YOU ARE HERE

Nothing on the schedule, everything within reach.

EVERY EVENING

The forest sauna

Fired with larch at four, open until ten. A cold plunge in the stream, a bench under the stars.

06:30 · FREE

Dawn walks

Two and a half hours with Jonas through the larch wood, ending at breakfast.

BY THE EVENING · €45

The mist tub

A cedar tub for two, fired just before dusk, overlooking the valley.

8:00 TO 10:30

A slow breakfast

Eggs from the Ploner hens, rye baked at five, speck, honey and coffee that does not hurry.

We arrived on a Friday evening, tired, and by Saturday noon we had forgotten what day it was. The sauna alone is worth the drive. We have already booked the golden weeks in October.
